Capcom is still being affected by the remake fever. While many pointed at Resident Evil 5 as the next in the remake line, another game could be in before that.
According to insider Daniel Richtman on Patreon, a remake of the original Resident Evil 9 in in the works. It could see the light of the day as early as 2026, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series. The game already got a do-over for GameCube in 2002.
Furthermore, Resident Evil 9 is still scheduled for release next year, with Leon Kennedy as the main character. The story would take place in the summer of 2025, in Southeast Asia. We've already made this clear, but the setting is said to be an open-world island inspired by Singapore.
As always, these are only rumors, and should be treated with caution.
