Square Enix has established a new business strategy, with a focus on being multi-platform
, by Thibaut
We could well be before the end of permanent and temporary exclusives for Square Enix. The Japanese company suffered a number of setbacks with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy XVI failing to sell enough on PS5.
The publisher has unveiled a medium-term plan covering a three-year period from now until March 31, 2027 with the aim to counteract the low profitability of big-budget games, while better managing the company's portfolio of franchises. Square Enix also wants to make up for shortcomings in its infrastructure management.
To achieve these objectives, the company plans to improve productivity in the digital entertainment department and, above all, go for a multiplatform strategy. This should open up new revenue opportunities. Business divisions based outside Japan will be rebuilt from scratch.
Finally, they are going to make a strategic investments of 100 billion yen (around 595.4 million euros), all with the aim to strike a balance between shareholder return and investment for growth.
