The next Destiny 2 expansion pack will feature Metroidvania elements

Bungie has finally announced the next expansion for Destiny 2, cunrrently known as Codename: Apollo. It will be available next summer and we'll have to make do with less content than the previous one.

Indeed, the American company has rolled out a new strategy which consists of releasing two medium-sized DLCs instead of just a big one. In any case, “Codename: Apollo” is a "non-linear character-driven adventure" with a Metroidvania-like structure.

As such, you'll be able to explore several areas from the outset, but some won't be accessible right away. You'll need a specific item or skill to access them. You'll also have to make choices during dialogues.

Finally, a new-generation armor system will be introduced. It will be based on "a smaller number of unique features on each piece of armor, with greater contributions to these features and each feature point bringing an advantage".
