Tango Gameworks may have been closed following a change of leadership at the studio

Last May, Microsoft announced the closure of several studios part of Bethesda Softworks. The most striking one was undoubtedly that of Tango Gameworks, the company behind The Evil Within and Hi-Fi RUSH.

In a recent interview, Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty teased that the closure was the result of a change in leadership at Tango Gameworks. Simply put, the success achieved with Hi-Fi RUSH was no longer guaranteed under this new management.

"There are a lot of things that go into success for a game – what leadership do you have, what creative leadership do you have, is the team the same team that shipped something successful previously?"

"We have to look at all of those things together and ask ourselves, are we set up for success going forward? And while there may have been factors or situations that previously led to success, they may not all still be in place as you look at what you’re doing going forward."
