Donkey Kong Bananza, Marathon, Borderlands 4... - This week's top stories #16

Between the disastrous MindsEye, the delay of Marathon and the very mixed reception of FBC: Firebreak, this gaming week has been no walk through the park. Fortunately, Nintendo has lifted up the spirits with a presentation for the next Donkey Kong game and NetEase is working on a very ambitious game.

Here are this week's highlights!

1 Marathon has been delayed indefinitely

Bungie has announced the postponement of its PvP game. It won't be released on September 23, and we haven't been given a new date. The American studio will be back in the news later this autumn.

2 MindsEye gets torn to pieces by press and gamers

Build A Rocket Boy is now the lowest-rated game of the year. A first hotfix has been deployed already, but many bugs still remain. The current MindsEye Metacritic average is 37%.

3 Clair Obscur is no longer the top-rated game of 2025

Sandfall Interactive's title is now "only" third in this year's ranking of the top-rated games. The Switch 2 versions for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild have got hold of the top of the podium.

4 Donkey Kong Bananza gets a beautiful presentation

Nintendo revealed 15 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming Donkey Kong for Switch 2. Pauline is coming back, and you can enjoy the game in coop with a fried.

5 The Collector's Edition for Borderlands 4 doesn't come with the game

At $150, the Collector's Edition of Borderlands* 4 will not include the game. This isn't something new, but such practice is always questionable.

6 Introducing Blood Message, an ambitious new Chinese game

NetEase is working on an AAA narrative action-adventure title called Blood Message. We also got an impressive trailer for it running under Unreal Engine 5.

7 Another price hike for Game Pass?

A line of code added to the xCloud service has revealed a price increase for Microsoft's Game Pass service. Of course, we'll have to wait for confirmation before we know for sure.

8 Stellar Blade has sold over a million on PC already

Shift Up has announced that its port has sold over a million units in just three days. The South Korean studio is also working on a sequel and intends to improve its narrative aspect.

9 Remedy misses (a little) with FBC: Firebreak

Among the week's other (minor) failures was Remedy's cooperative title. Accustomed to high-quality single-player games, the Finnish studio only achieved a Metacritic average of 66% with its new baby.

10 Nexus Mods has been bought out

While the news of the sale of the Nexus Mods site may seem worrying, its founder has made it clear that nothing will change for users. Everyone will still be able to get the best PC mods around.

11 Sony lifts the regional restrictions on PC games

Blocked in certain countries up until now, PC games published by PlayStation are starting to be released everywhere, including Helldivers 2, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and God of War: Ragnarök.

12 There are new features in the pipeline for Clair Obscur

The French devs of the famous RPG have stated that they are working on a wide range of improvements. New content is also in the pipeline, with the added bonus of localization to additional languages.

13 Xbox partners with AMD for future consoles

To design its future gaming devices, Microsoft has decided to sign a multi-year partnership with AMD. The two companies will focus on the gaming experience and areas such as backward compatibility.

14. Microsoft is going to lay off thousands of employees

Among the weekly bad news, we learn that the multinational is preparing to fire several thousand people. The sales sector is expected to be the most affected.

15 Capcom to present its games on June 27

Finally, Capcom will present news of its titles on June 26 at 11 pm. Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Wilds, Street Fighter 6 and Pragmata are expected to be there.

Bonus: The Witcher: a franchise that has left an indelible mark on RPGs
