To be a success, Marathon should be in the top 5 in US sales

The odds seem to be badly stacked against Marathon. Bungie has become embroiled in a case of plagiarism of artworks and the atmosphere within the studio has greatly deteriorated.

Forbes journalist Paul Tassi also made a revelation about the game's future. For Sony to consider Marathon a commercial success, the Japanese company would expect the title to rank in the top 5 of NPD sales for the year. According to Tassi, this is unlikely to happen.

It should be remembered that Marathon will not be free-to-play and is expected to retail for around €40.
