Morale at Bungie is reportedly at an all-time low following the Marathon controversy

The last few years have been difficult for Bungie. The studio has struggled to keep Destiny 2 afloat, internal management problems have been in vogue and Sony has largely taken over the running of the company.

As if that weren't enough, Marathon, Bungie's next PvP title, is now at the heart of a major controversy. It has been revealed that a former artist of the game has stolen artworks belonging to a freelance designer. Teams are currently working to remove these stolen assets. Unfortunately, part of the community is now questioning whether the entire aesthetic of Marathon is the result of plagiarism.

According to Paul Tassi of Forbes, "the mood has never been worse" at Bungie. Everyone is reportedly very worried about the future of the game, and of the studio in general, after this latest controversy. A trailer due to be revealed in June has already been cancelled.

For the moment, a postponement of Marathon, scheduled for launch on September 23, 2025, is not on the agenda.
