Astro Bot sold 1.5 million copies

Despite its undeniable qualities, Astro Bot still had a lot to prove commercially. Sony therefore took advantage of the announcement of its financial results (https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/9170-ps5-reaches-65-5-million-sales) to talk about sales of Team Asobi's game.

Nine weeks after its launch, Astro Bot has sold 1.5 million units worldwide. It was also revealed that 37% of those who purchased the title had not bought a first-party game in the last two years.

In this area, Sony reiterated its ambition to release single-player games every year. The Japanese firm also says it has learned from the failure of Concord and intends to continue its work on “service games”.

In the quarter to the end of September 2024, 77.7 million games (PS5 and PS4) were sold. This represents a year-on-year increase of 10.1 million units.
