According to Tim Cook, the Apple Vision Pro isn't a product for everyone
, by Quentin
In an interview with a Wall Street Journal reporter, Apple CEO Tim Cook commented on the poor sales of his mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro.
The headset may have seduced the hardcore enthusiasts with its technological prowess, but its $3,499 price tag turned many off. Tim Cook is not surprised, however, and accepts that the product is not for everyone. According to him, it's aimed above all at customers who want to take advantage of tomorrow's technology, today.
However, he admits that there aren't enough people in this group yet. When you consider that some $1 billion was invested in the research and development of the headset, and that sales have never really taken off, it seems quite obvious that the company will never recoup such a grand investment.
Although many rumors point to a "more affordable" model, we're talking about a product that still costs around $2,000, which is still far from affordable for everyone, especially for such a niche product.
