Project Rene may not be cancelled, but it's clearly not going to be The Sims 5

What the future holds in store for Electronic Arts' life sim franchise is far from clear. Long rumored to be the fifth entry in the franchise, Project Rene is likely to still be a thing, despite The Sims 5 being cancelled.

According to new leaks, Project Rene is still in the works, with some internal tests carried out recently. This project would actually be included in The Sims Labs, a sort of portal that would bring together several The Sims games. This will host The Sims 4, MySims, The Sims: Project Stories and Project Rene.

The latter would be based above all on multiplayer in a district inspired by Paris. Each Sim will be able to establish relationships and chat with other Sims, all of whom will be controlled by players.
