Former Maxis Studios dev lists The Sims 5 for PS5 among cancelled project he has worked on

Here's a rumor that's been making the rounds on certain forums for a while now, and it's just getting louder and louder. Indeed, some Internet users have noticed a surprising mention on Thomas Sincich's online CV. The man worked from April 2021 to April 2024 at Maxis Studios, the team responsible for the Sims.

In the long list of games he worked on, the former chief character artist mentions "The Sims 5 Unreal Engine 5 por PS5 (Cancelled)". So, many wonder if the recent wave of layoffs at EA might have led to the cancellation of the game.

It's still to early to say, but we can assume that this may only concern the PS5 version of the game. After all, it's not too uncommon for ports to be abandoned along the way.

The Sims 5 is currently codenamed as Project René and may only be coming to PC.
