Final Fantasy XVI has expanded the franchise's audience

Despite a great marketing campaign, Final Fantasy XVI failed to meet Square Enix's commercial targets. The game made the company lose a lot of money, and sales were not that good either.
Fortunately, this sixteenth entry has had a positive effect on the series. In an interview with Push Square, Takeo Kujiraoka, director of The Rising Tide DLC (due April 18), shared the results of a recent survey commissioned by the Japanese company.
He reveals that, compared with the previous games, Final Fantasy XVI attracted more teenagers and gamers in their early twenties. In recent years, the franchise has tended to attract an older demographic.
While Kujiraoka sees this as a success, he is quick to point out that "this doesn’t mean that all future Final Fantasy games will take a similar direction to Final Fantasy 16".
