The reviews for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are out today. And it just so happens that the second instalment in this trilogy of remakes is already a strong contender for Game of the Year.
At the time of writing, Square Enix's title has an average score of 93% on Metacritic (for 110 reviews). The [OpenCritic] aggregator (https://opencritic.com/game/15136/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth/reviews?page=2) also scores 93% (on 66 reviews).
Among the game's undeniable qualities are its masterful soundtrack, its well-thought-out semi-open dimension, its dynamic combat and its masterfully managed storyline. The content is no small feat either, with a multitude of mini-games.
However, there's a few technical issues and textures that aren't always very clean. The finale, however, is absolutely grandiose.
