Redundancies at Microsoft have affected several areas
, by Thibaut
By laying off almost 9% of its workforce, Microsoft Gaming will be downsizing several specific departments. Let's see which ones.
We have learned that almost all the teams working in customer support for Activision Blizzard King games have been made redundant. The American manufacturer wishes to outsource this section to external companies based abroad.
Another major setback is the closure of departments responsible for marketing Xbox games in physical format. Following the example of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, many exclusive titles may no longer see the light of day on Blu-ray. However, the American company may choose to subcontract this other task too.
Finally, many community managers have also lost their jobs this week. It seems Microsoft is going to place less emphasis on developing the community aspect of its future projects.
