Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is just the first step in a new phase for the series

Crystal Dynamics and Amazon are fully committed to reviving the Tomb Raider series. It will begin with the remake of the first game, expected on February 10, 2027, for PS5, XBOX Series, Switch 2, and PC.

In an interview with MP1st, Jeff Adams, the game’s director of user experience, discussed the ambition behind Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The studio hopes to bring together longtime fans, those who discovered the franchise through the Netflix series, and newcomers through this project.

The main goal is to mark the first step in this new phase of Tomb Raider, which will continue with the release of Catalyst in 2028.

"What you get in the end is hopefully something that inspires everybody. Your core fans, from the original adventure onward, get to see quintessential Tomb Raider environments brought to stunning detail on a modern console or PC, and they can navigate them in outfits from Lara’s wardrobe of past looks that are sure to delight. You also have the tunability Survivor fans appreciate alongside the humanized Lara that they were inspired by when they played the 2013 reboot.

This game isn’t just for fans. It’s not a remaster. It’s not a coat of paint. We’re re-presenting this to all players because it’s an essential piece of Lara’s history, and it’s the first step in this next major phase of Tomb Raider gaming."
