Bungie releases a lengthy statement on its situation

It’s through a lengthy blog post on Bungie’s blog that we’re learning more about the studio’s current situation, as well as its current and upcoming projects. Through this post, they aim to maintain a dialogue with their community and continue doing so regularly in the future. Here’s a summary of the main points.

1. Destiny 2: The Return of Removed Content

Bungie acknowledges that the removal of numerous activities has damaged the community’s trust. The goal is to bring back the removed campaigns, related assaults and raids, as well as the Menagerie. It’s not enough to simply restore the files; the content must be adapted to the current game, a process they estimate will take about a year.

2. What about the Destiny franchise?

Three areas of focus were outlined here. First, new updates for Destiny 2, beyond Monuments of Triumph. As for the original Destiny, the studio wants to preserve the experience on current platforms. New details will be shared in early 2027. Finally, a secret project was mentioned, but neither its nature nor its identity has been revealed to date.

3. What about Marathon?

Marathon is really important to the studio, and essential to its future, even though it hasn’t attracted as many players as hoped. They want to evolve the experience toward survival and looting, thereby offering players more possibilities, particularly in PvP, PvE, and PvPvE. The upcoming updates (December 2026 and March 2027) will be decisive.

Of course, we’ve only provided a brief summary of the information shared here. The press release, which is quite long, takes the form of a Q&A between Josh Deane, the product manager, and questions from the community. You can read the full text at this link.
