Final Fantasy XIV players are helping each other water their gardens during the game’s security incident

The past few hours have been quite difficult for Final Fantasy XIV players. After being affected by a serious PHP security vulnerability, the MMORPG had to undergo emergency maintenance and suspend PC connections. Thus, the community went on to help each other out to complete a very specific task.
Players affected by this maintenance faced a problem: they could no longer log in to water their in-game gardens. If crops aren’t watered frequently, they can die. To address this, an initiative called the Player Helping Player Watering Service was launched.
On forums like Reddit, those users who still had access to the game offered to water the gardens of players who couldn’t log in. Players began sharing the coordinates of their homes in Final Fantasy XIV online so that their crops could be saved. Since watering indoor plants requires special permission, these indoor gardens will unfortunately be lost.
Regardless, this initiative is still commendable and demonstrates the spirit of mutual aid that a gaming community can show.
