One analyst believes the low price of Hollow Knight: Silksong could have negative consequences
, by Thibaut
Despite its undeniable qualities and very generous content, Hollow Knight: Silksong launched for just €19.50 in September 2025. This low price was very well received by players, but it could harm other similar titles.
That’s what pricing expert Cassia Curran told The Game Business. In her view, Team Cherry’s title has set a new pricing standard that other independent studios may struggle to match. As a result, players might no longer accept prices higher than that of Hollow Knight: Silksong for similar titles.
"Hollow Knight (Silksong) kind of annoyed me. I was like, ‘Oh, guys, please price it higher. $24.99 would have made a big difference to a lot of studios that have similar games.’ There is actually quite a lot of downward pricing pressure, especially with all the promotional offers lately."
Thanks to its excellent reviews and affordable price, Hollow Knight: Silksong had already sold over 7 million copies by December 2025.
