Capcom announces that more than 11 million Capcom ID accounts have been affected by a data breach

Capcom has its own platform to provide access to the online features of its games. It is called Capcom ID and has unfortunately been affected by a security breach.

The Japanese company has confirmed that an external party gained access to information from approximately 11.7 million different accounts. This includes email addresses, account creation dates, last login dates, and IP addresses. No banking information was stolen.

However, passwords were changed for only 196 accounts, and 43 accounts had the user’s date of birth, gender, country, and username exposed. Capcom immediately reset the passwords. As a result, this incident should have no consequences for most users.

Capcom nevertheless recommends being on the lookout for potential fraudulent emails posing as the company.
