Haunted Chocolatier, the next game from the creator of Stardew Valley, will be closer to an action-RPG

Eric Barone’s next game is still a long time coming. The creator of Stardew Valley has been working on Haunted Chocolatier for several years now. Unfortunately, the release still seems a long way off, but Barone himself revealed new details in an interview with GQ.

According to him, Haunted Chocolatier will be more action-RPG than farm simulation. The focus will be on adventure, exploration, and combat.

"It’s still what I call a town game, but it’s more of an action RPG – the main focus is more about adventuring, finding equipment and getting more powerful. There are monsters, there are boss fights."

Barone also emphasized the "metaphysical" aspect of his game, which will explore the world of ghosts and spirits. Finally, players will have to be patient, as the developer added that "no one's playing the game until I’m ready to show it."
