Thanks to an update, Steam is already faster than the new version of the Epic Games Launcher

Valve didn’t waste any time responding to Epic Games’ statement on Wednesday. The new launcher from the company behind Fortnite boasted that it was faster than Steam, taking 5.47 seconds for a cold start compared to 10.7 seconds for its competitor.
However, Epic’s apparent dominance ultimately lasted only a few hours. In fact, Valve rolled out a Steam update shortly thereafter, bringing the startup time down to just 5.23 seconds. The new Epic Games Launcher, currently in the testing phase, has thus been beaten.
The Steam update also introduces a « Big Art Mode » for the home screen, a personal calendar on the « Recommended » tab, a screensaver for « Big Picture » mode, as well as various improvements and bug fixes.
