The Game Awards 2026: GTA VI is officially eligible

This is a question on everyone’s mind as 2026 draws to a close. After two delays, the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026—a date that falls relatively close to the famous annual « Game Awards » conference.

There’s no doubt that the presence of a game like GTA VI at this conference could radically shake up the fortunes of certain other games and studios aiming for nominations in various categories.

Straight from the conference’s official website, here’s the news that has just broken:

GTA VI Game Awards

« Games must be made commercially available to customers on or before Friday, November 20, 2026, at 9 p.m (Pacific Time). In the Players' Voice category, games must ship on or before November 30, 2026. »

Having barely made the deadline, GTA VI will therefore be eligible for nominations and will likely be nominated in several categories. The 2026 Game Awards ceremony will take place on the night of Thursday, December 10, through Friday, December 11.
