Blizzard will take a hard line against World of Warcraft: Forever players who buy gold
, by Thibaut
Here’s a practice as old as time that Blizzard Entertainment intends to crack down on starting with the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever on November 4, 2026. The American company wants to tackle the gold issue.
Since the MMORPG’s debut in 2004, many players have been illegally purchasing gold from third-party sites and using it in-game. During a Q&A session, the developers addressed the issue and hinted that severe penalties will be imposed on those who cheat. These penalties could include permanent account bans for those caught red-handed.
"Being frank, we’ve probably bee too lenient on gold buyers, and it’s been a little easy to get around some of our actions. We are taking this very seriously, and as someone who’s got a 22-year-old World of Warcraft account, I can tell you it’s not worth losing it permanently. It’s not worth losing any of your accounts permanently. So, I would very strongly recommend that you don’t do it. It’s not worth it. I promise."
