The Blood of Dawnwalker had a budget of $40 million

Although it got a great reception by the press and players alike, The Blood of Dawnwalker did not have a massive budget to make it to us in early September. In an interview with Bloomberg, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the RPG’s director, discussed the game’s development.
First, Tomaszkiewicz noted that he personally funded the game’s early stages before it caught the attention of NetEase. The Chinese giant decided to acquire a 26% stake in Rebel Wolves in late 2022, subsequently allocating approximately $40 million to the project.
Thus, after a year dedicated to hiring, actual development began toward the end of 2023 with a team that had grown to 160 members instead of the 90 originally planned.
"We decided that the team’s current size best suits our needs. I still know everyone. I can talk to each person every day. I still feel like a creator rather than a manager, which suits me perfectly."
Finally, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz concluded by explaining that he preferred to release The Blood of Dawnwalker in September than have his employees work overtime in order to launch the game in June.
