Diablo IV won't get new expansions

BlizzCon 2026 was the scene of a major announcement, as the first images of Diablo V were unveiled there. This fifth installment is set to launch in the spring of 2029, and players may have wondered what would become of Diablo IV.
We got the answer in an interview with Brent Gibson, the game’s director, on the PC Gamer website. Diablo IV will not receive any more major expansions, but it will feature seasonal content through updates.
"We’re all focused on the seasons of Diablo IV and on the development of Diablo V. We feel like we’ve told the story of Hatred. We brought the story of the Lord of Hatred to a satisfying conclusion with Mephisto, and we’re now moving on to the story of Terror."
The events of Diablo 5 happen 100 years after everything that's happening with Diablo 4, and so that gives us a lot of room to kind of still ride the wave with all the fans on where the story can go as we make our way there.
So continuity is something that we're really excited about, but we don't necessarily have a perfect picture on exactly where that's going to go because we want to see how fans are reacting season to season."
