Final Fantasy VII: Revelation will feature an open world larger than that of Rebirth

Unlike the highly linear first installment, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth opted for more open areas filled with side activities of varying levels of excitement. Now, the sequel will retain and expanded upon said structure.

In fact, Square Enix recently revealed that the open world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be larger than that of its predecessor. However, director Naoki Hamaguchi is aware that players can grow weary of worlds that are too large and sometimes feel a bit empty.

As a result, players will be guided by markers that will help them discover interesting activities more easily without making exploration tedious.
