Gears of War: E-Day shines once again with a tech demo

A new demo for Gears of War: E-Day was shown during the State of Unreal 2026 event hosted by Epic Games this Wednesday.

It features scenes previously shown in the Xbox Games Showcase presentation, but this time with a focus on the technical aspects. We see Marcus Fenix in the city of Kalona, which features partially destructible environments. The developers also used hundreds of light sources thanks to MegaLights technology. This technology is designed to "significantly improve the visual fidelity of all elements, from environmental destruction to volumetric effects and gunfire muzzle flashes."

All the tools provided by Epic Games have allowed The Coalition’s teams to iterate more quickly and increase visual complexity without having to compromise on the game’s resolution or frame rate.
