Bungie's teams learned of development on Destiny 2 being stopped at the time of its public announcement

The announcement that development on Destiny 2 was being halted took everyone by surprise… including Bungie’s teams. In an article published in Forbes, journalist Paul Tassi shared some insights into this unfortunate situation.

According to his sources, the vast majority of Bungie employees were unaware that production had been halted until the public announcement. Thus, some were working on future content for Destiny 2 even after management made this decision.

Additionally, regarding future layoffs, there was a meeting held at the studio. The question came up repeatedly, but management gave no specific answers. There could be many departures, but they are not expected to happen immediately.
