Star Wars: The Old Republic is officially changing studios, with lay-offs to follow
, by Thibaut
It's now official: Bioware is no longer at the helm of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The MMO is now being developed by Broadsword, a studio known for its work on Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot.
Announced on June 7, the transition has obviously caused some collateral damage. Bioware CEO Gary McKay has stated that a large number of developers working on the game will be offered positions at Broadsword, but unfortunately, other employees will not be able to follow suit. Some will potentially find a new role at Electronic Arts, while others will unfortunately be fired.
Either way, players won't notice the difference, and Star Wars: The Old Republic will be receiving new content over the coming years.
