Despite the development studio change, Star Wars: The Old Republic won't be shutting down

On June 6, Electronic Arts announced that development of the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic was to be taken out of Bioware's hands (https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/1644-development-of-star-wars-the-old-republic-may-be-handed-over-to-another-studio) in order to free up resources for the studio to focus on the development of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and the next Mass Effect.

As we all can imagine, this statement caused quite a stirr in the community... Indeed, some players thought this was the beginning of the end for the MMO. However, in a recent post on the game's forums, the developers were reassuring, claiming that content is already planned for 2024 and beyond with Bioware overseeing production.

Executive Producer Keith Kanneg also denied the idea of a server shutdown. EA is planning new stories as well as the modernization of several elements.
