Hideki Konno, who worked on Mario Kart and Luigi's Mansion, has left Nintendo after 39 years
, by Thibaut
Hideki Konno joined Nintendo in 1986 and left the company quietly in July 2025. Although he isn't that well-known to the general public, the 60-year-old Japanese creator has worked on several extremely famous games.
During his nearly 40 years at Nintendo, he took part in the development on various titles in the Mario Kart series, from Super Mario Kart to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. He also played an important role in the design of Nintendogs, Luigi's Mansion, Nintendo Land, and Yoshi's Island.
It should be noted that Kensuke Tanabe, who also joined Nintendo in 1986, confirmed last week that Metroid Prime 4 was his last game with the company. It feels like a turning point for the Japanese firm.
