The day Activision Blizzard almost bought Time Warner
, by Thibaut
There’s no telling how much goes on behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. However, Bobby Kotick, the controversial current CEO of Activision Blizzard, dropped a great scoop on his latest interview with Vanity.
Kotick explained that his group almost bought the great Time Warner several years ago. In the end, the deal fell through, with AT&T winning the battle with an $85.4 billion bid. The deal was finalized in 2018, burying the little hopes remaining for Activision Blizzard’s ambition.
Bobby Kotick added that the intent behind the acquisition was to take Time Warner licenses and adapt them into video games, while allowing Activision Blizzard’s own franchises to make the move to the big screen. For example, there could have been new Harry Potter games, as well as Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot or Diablo series and films.
