Neon Prime, rumored to be Valve's next game, on the spotlight once again
, by Thibaut
You know, same old, same old. Whenever rumors circulate about what Valve is doing next, the internet goes crazy. Last September, the American firm registered the Neon Prime trademark. At the time, it was classified under the “goods and services'' category, which includes videogames and many speculated that it would be Valve’s next major license.
While the development of such a project is yet to be confirmed, this hasn’t stopped some insiders like YouTuber Tyler McVicker (specialized in all this Valve) from giving more or less clear details about the project, of course to be taken with a grain of salt.
Neon Prime is said to be a sort of cross between Overwatch, Team Fortress 2, Dota 2 and Teardown, featuring a third-person POV and highly stylized art direction. The map is going to be huge ( so much that you would be able to ride and drive trains) and it will feature basic construction elements. The game will be able to be played in PvP or PvE depending on the mode selected, with several classes available at launch featuring a strong personality, similar to that of the Left for Dead protagonists.
The world of Neon Prime could also be loosely connected to Half-Life or Portal. With a closed beta currently underway, the game could be announced later this year.
