Firaxis (Civilization 7) is laying off staff

After launching Civilization 7 last February, Firaxis has decided to let some of its staff go. Several former employees of the studio have announced they've lost their job on social media.
This includes writer Emma Kidwell, producer Maya H, and lead character artist Matthew Davis. All say they were laid off on Thursday, September 4. We do not yet know how many people are affected. 2K Games has issued a statement confirming these departures.
"We can confirm that there has been a reduction in staff today at Firaxis Games as the studio restructures and optimizes its development process for adaptability, collaboration, and creativity."
