The Final Fantasy IX Remake is in trouble and may have been cancelled

Rumors of a remake of Final Fantasy IX have been circulating for several months now. Square Enix is currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of its game, but fans of this entry may be in for a nasty surprise.

On ResetEra, renowned insider NateDrake has reported some worrying news. While he says he'll have to check the remake's current status with his sources, the main insider explained that he heard about the project about a month ago. At the time, the game was experiencing "problems" and may have been cancelled by Square Enix.

NateDrake does, however, mention the fact that he had "only one source regarding the possible cancellation" and so needs to double-check this.
