Final Fantasy XVI will not be released in Saudi Arabia

Expected to be released worldwide on June 22nd, the next installment in the Final Fantasy series seems to be causing trouble in a specific country. Indeed, Saudi Arabia has chosen to ban the game from its stores. The reason is the sexual orientation of a character that would pose a problem for Saudi authorities.

Thus, we have learned that one of the male heroes of Final Fantasy XVI is homosexual. Saudi Arabia reportedly asked Square Enix to censor an "explicit" scene regarding this, which the publisher seems to have refused. A refusal that will result in the game being banned in this authoritarian regime.
