Redfall in turmoil after receiving very mediocre ratings

No, the Xbox Series (and PC) exclusive from Bethesda Softworks is not the highly anticipated hit after all. Developed by Arkane Austin, Redfall has definitely not convinced the press since its Metacritic average barely reaches 62% and only 2.6/10 from players. The total number of Steam reviews is "mostly negative", with only 30% positive out of 1155 reactions.

This disappointment can be explained by a severe lack of polish. The FPS is plagued by numerous bugs, making it difficult to know where to begin. Framerate issues, blurry textures, completely off-the-mark artificial intelligence... All of this coupled with minimalist storytelling, unappealing shooting sensations, and too much repetitiveness.

All of this has inevitably led to controversies, as some have started speculating that Microsoft had refused to grant an additional deadline to Arkane's teams. A rumor denied by Windows Central journalist Jez Corden. It was mainly ZeniMax Media (Bethesda Softworks' parent company) that managed the production of the game.

Whatever the case may be, Redfall is anything but a success.
