AMD announces FSR Redstone, a new technology exclusive to RDNA4 GPUs
, by Quentin
AMD was at Computex to show FSR Redstone, a new version of its FidelityFX Super Resolution technology.
Designed for RDNA4 graphics cards, it introduces three new features: Neural Radiance Caching (indirect light bounce prediction), Ray Regeneration (AI-accelerated, similar to NVIDIA's DLSS 3.5), and machine learning image generation.
FSR Redstone will combine these techniques to improve performance and image quality, but will not be compatible with RDNA3 or RDNA2 GPUs. Its launch is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
In addition, AMD has indicated that 60 games will be FSR 4 compatible by June 5, without mentioning any extended support for older architectures.
