Apex Legends' French cast withdraws from the game in protest against use of generative AI

The French voices we hear in Apex Legends may soon be a thing of the past. Indeed, the 31 dubbing actors for Electronic Arts' title have chosen to step aside.

In a press release, actress Pascale Chemin, who has given her voice to Wraith since the game's release, explains that she opposed the signing of a confidentiality agreement. In her opinion, and based on the expertise of a legal expert specializing in audiovisual matters, the appendix was unacceptable in its current form.

This famous document stipulates that the French actors in Apex Legends must agree to train the generative AI that could replace them in the more or less near future.

"We're being asked to accept what we're fighting against. We're being asked to shoot ourselves in the foot. We are being asked to endorse AI", declared Pascale Chemin in her post. The thirty or so actors are now awaiting a response from EA following this collective refusal.
