The Super Mario Bros. movie is set to soon cross the billion-dollar mark at the box office

But who will stop our beloved plumber? The feature film Super Mario Bros. is taking the world by storm and could even surpass a symbolic milestone in the coming days. As of the time of writing, the film has generated 678 million dollars at the global box office (330 million of which was generated solely in North America). And if it continues at this frenetic pace, the adaptation should reach new heights.

According to Variety, and barring a major setback, Super Mario Bros. will become the first 2023 film to cross the billion-dollar threshold. The Hollywood Reporter, for its part, asserts that this symbolic milestone will be reached very soon. In any case, it is already the most profitable video game adaptation of all time, easily surpassing Detective Pikachu (449 million) and Warcraft (439 million).
