Mario movie becomes second-best animated film of all time at box office
, by Thibaut
Since its release at the beginning of April, the Super Mario Bros film has met phenomenal success in cinemas. So much so that, in fact, it now ranks alongside the most acclaimed animated films in the whole cinema’s history.
According to The Numbers, our dear mustachioed plumber has climbed to second place in the world box-office for an animated film, having grossed $1,294,577,622 since its release. This is better than the first entry on the “Frozen” saga ($1,284,540,518) but not as good as its sequel ($1,453,683,476). Toy Story, The Minions and The Incredibles are left far, far behind.
Mario is now among the great animated classics!
