Square Enix is pleasently surprised with the sales of Dragon Quest III 2D-HD Remake

While it's true that Dragon Quest III 2D-HD was released last November with little to no fanfare, it seems to have more than met Square Enix's objectives.

In its latest financial report, the Japanese publisher announced that the remake had surpassed the company's sales forecasts. However, this did not prevent Square Enix from seeing its net sales fall by -3.5% in the quarter ending December 31, 2024. This is similar in terms of operating income, which fell by -4.4%.

Net sales of derivative products jumped by 19.2%, and entertainment-related sales by 19.1%.
