Just as expected, MAD has announced its brand-new Ryzen Z2 APU range, including the Z2 Extreme, the Z2 and Z2 Go models, specifically designed for the handheld segment. AMD reaffirms its compromise with offering console-quality gaming on the go, with extended battery life as well as advanced graphics fidelity thanks to technologies such as FSR.
The Ryzen Z2 Extreme wants to be the ultimate APU for portable consoles. It features 8 cores and 16 threads, a maximum boost frequency of 5 GHz, integrates 24 MB of cache and a configurable TDP between 15 and 35 W. It also comes with 16 RDNA 3.5 CPU cores and is based on the Zen 5 architecture.
The Ryzen Z2 also features 8 cores and 16 threads, but is based on Zen 4 architecture tho. There's a boost frequency of just over 5.1 GHz, 24 MB cache and a configurable TDP of between 15 and 30 W. On the graphics sides, we got 12 RDNA 3 GPUs.
Finally, the Ryzen Z2 GO is the entry-level option, with 4 cores, 8 threads, being based Zen 3 architecture, a maximum boost frequency of 4.3 GHz, 10 MB of cache, a customizable TPD between 15 and 30 W and 12 RDNA 2 GPU cores.
AMD has specified that these APUs will release on the first quarter of 2025.
