SEGA has no plans to release another Mini console as of now
, by Thibaut
In the second half of the 2010s, several companies relaunched their old consoles in a Mini format. This was mainly the case for Nintendo and PlayStation, but also for SEGA:
In an interview with The Guardian, Shuji Utsumi, CEO of SEGA's European and American branches, answered a question about this. The man made it quite cliear that there will be no retro consoles, at least in the near future.
"I’m not going for the Mini direction. It’s not me. I want to embrace modern gamers. We are not a retro company. We really appreciate our legacy, we value it, but at the same time, we want to deliver something new – otherwise we’ll become history. That’s not what we’re aiming for."
So don't go and expect a hypothetical Saturn or even a Dreamcast Mini any time soon.
