Activision admits not doing enough to curb cheating during Black Ops 6 Season 1
, by Thibaut
Playable for free until December 20, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 had quite a turbulent first season. Indeed, the number of cheats in ranked games skyrocketed, which had in turn ruined the experience to lots of players.
In a blog post, Activision admitted to not doing enough to protect players with the RICOCHET anti-cheating tool.
"After a series of updates our systems are in a better place today across all modes; however, we did not hit the mark for the integration of RICOCHET Anti-Cheat at the launch of Season 01 – particularly for Ranked Play. "
"We understand the promise of glory and notoriety from Ranked Play leaderboards makes Ranked Play an attractive target for cheaters. For this reason, our teams have been especially focused on turning the tide to deliver the competitive arena our players seek."
The team intends to speed up the sanctions process, all with the aim of quickly suspending the offending accounts. AI-based detection systems will also be improved, as well as better server-side protections deployed with seasons 2 and 3.
