The European Commission has announced that Nintendo will have to repair free of charge all Switch controllers affected by Joy-Co

This is a strong decision that the Commission has taken after contacting Nintendo about the issue. Joy-Con drift is a widespread phenomenon that causes the Switch to detect movement in a controller stick even when the player is not touching it. This makes it almost impossible to properly control a character in a game, which usually ends up going in all directions.

Due to the scale of the malfunction, the European Commission took action and eventually obtained an important concession from Nintendo. The company has committed to carrying out free repairs for all controllers, even after the warranty period has expired.
