The console versions of Cities: Skylines 2 have been delayed due to "hardware limitations"

While the PS5 and Xbox Series are generally capable of running graphically and technically ambitious games, they seem to lack the power needed for Cities: Skylines 2.

Indeed, studio Colossal Order claims that the consequent delay of the console version is caused by "hardware limitations" of the Sony and Microsoft machines. At present, there are both simulation (CPU) and graphics (GPU) problems according to the developers. These occur when certain actions are performed, leading to framerate drops and memory overload.

Colossal Order showed an example, such as when the player attempts to construct larger buildings, involving the use of numerous units. The system then struggles to cope with the data load, leading to the problems mentioned above.

Still, the console version of Cities: Skylines 2 remain a priority for the studio, but they have no release date at present.
