Silent Hill 2: a player has solved a rather complex mystery
, by Thibaut
Just like the original game, the remake of “Silent Hill 2” is full of puzzles and mysteries. In fact, one of the most complex ones has been solved by a player.
During James Sunderland's adventure, you can collect 26 polaroids that are more or less hidden around the area. Each one has a sentence and a number. Reddit user DaleRobinson deciphered the message the developers wanted to say.
To do this, you have to count the number of elements in each photo (e.g., the number of birds, number of open windows in a building, etc.). Then you have to use this number to get the letter of the message of the photo. If there are six windows, you have to select the sixth letter of the sentence. Then you have to put everything together in order using the number that appears in each photo.
In the end, you will get this message: “You've been here for two decades”. A reference to the fact that the remake was released around 20 years after “Silent Hill 2” for PS2.
Some fans also speculate that the message indicates that James Sunderland is stuck in a time loop and has been returning to the city for over 20 years. An unrprovable theory at the moment. Even so, Mateusz Lenart, the game's creative director, has congratulated the player on his discovery.
