Hi-Rez Studios (SMITE) lays off part of its staff

Yet another developer team has been hit by a wave of redundancies. This time' it's the creators of SMITE. Stewart Chisam, CEO of Hi-Rez Studios, has said so on X.com.

He states that there's a significant number of people affected, mainly in the marketing and publishing branches. Subsidiaries Evil Mojo, G&A and Titan Forge have also been touched by it, as do the teams in charge of creating skins and more content for the game.

Going forward, Hi-Rez Studios plans to focus on SMITE 2 and support the game through to the 2030s while a small team keeps working on the original SMITE.
