Some fans overclock AMD's EPYC 4124P processor to 6.7 GHz on a consumer motherboard
, by Quentin
When computer and overclocking freaks get down to some tinkering, it can lead to truly nice surprises, and this one is a record-breaker.
In fact, they've managed to work wonders with a quad-core AMD EPYC 4124P processor, overcloking it to 6.7 GHz, all on consumer motherboards like the X670E and B650.
Usually, this processor offers a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and can reach up to 5.1 in boost mode. The best performances recorded by these fans have reached 6.7 GHz, with memory speeds of up to 7200 MHz.
As you might expect, this overclocking is not condoned by AMD, and the people behind these modifications haven't revealed their secrets, seeking to protect themselves from the company discovering the exact process that led to this technical feat.
